The position is full-time and can be based out of our Santa Barbara, CA office, or can be done remotely from home with a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate is early in their career and excited about implementing a diverse set of skills and building new ones in a highly impactful role. Candidate must comfortable working independently within an entrepreneurial environment with rapid changes. As an Associate Software Engineer for Social Intelligence, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and support innovative software solutions with a small and agile team utilizing a broad range of technologies. Projects may include internal software maintenance, developing new features for our databases and API, help architect and improve proprietary algorithms, support ongoing and new IT security initiatives and provide creative technical input. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Santa Barbara, CA. Responsibilities: Utilize HTML, JavaScript, and PHP, to develop, debug, and maintain web-based applications following W3C, MVC, and industry standard conventionsuild real-time data interfaces using REST, AJAX, XML, JSON and custom formatsPerform local testing and work with QA team to resolve issuesTest sites across multiple browsers on PC and Mac platformsCreate and maintain database tables, ad-hoc queries, and general tuningWork with large datasets to identify and analyze both structured and unstructured data in SQL databasesResearch and implement third-party APIsWork with a variety of AWS technologies (Elastic Beanstalk SQS, EC2, RDS, S3, and SNS) Skills: Familiarity with coding web applicationsFluency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, AJAX, JSON, XMLExperience with SQL queries, and relational database design. Application uses MySQL database.Experience utilizing third-party APIs including real-time data streamsServer-side and client-side tracing/debugging skillsExperience with GIT Version ControlExperience with CSS.
