Software Engineer Intern Washington - Lynnwood/en-US/SEL/job/Washington---Lynnwood/Software-Engineer-Intern_2019-02168/apply Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a creative and talented software engineering intern with a focus on web design and development. SEL develops critical products that provide the main interface for protecting, controlling, monitoring amp; analyzing the power grid. We are developing a new web application to solve difficult, industry-wide product development problems. We would like a well-rounded individual to help fill out a small team dedicated to this new product. You will implementation the look, feel, and interaction behavior of front end components for this new web application. You will do this with a small team where every persons work counts. You will have easy access to our customers, which are our fellow employees. You will do this from our Lynnwood, WA office, where you will find exceptional quality of life, great schools and universities, easy access to recreational activities in nearby mountains, rivers, forests, and amenities. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a computer science or related engineering degree, passionate about web design, and a desire to champion the users needs in all cases. This candidate will work full time during the summer and be willing to work part time during the school year. Candidates must be interested in learning web development frameworks and have a desire to grow. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Develop components for a web application; activities could include: * Implementing low level components (Buttons, controls, interfaces) * Design user interface layout wireframes, sketches, low fidelity mocks * Design information architecture * Design software navigation * Design data visualization * Testing these components 2. Participate in all levels of development through design, code, and test reviews 3. Design and perform usability tests, then incorporate those results 4. Understand. Create. Simplify. 5.
