ABOUT THE UNITED WAY WORLDWIDE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: United Way Worldwide is offering several unpaid internship opportunities, and is happy to coordinate with your University??s faculty to assist in obtaining credit (if available). The internship opportunities are open to current students or recent graduates of a college program. The intern is expected to demonstrate a keen interest in nonprofits, as well as interest in a field of study related to the position. Intern, 2-1-1 Communications and Special Projects POSITION OVERVIEW: This is an unpaid internship that will approximately run from early September through late November 2019. The 2-1-1 UWW Team is seeking an intern to support its efforts to provide national project coordination, and data support to the 2-1-1 Network. This intern will work closely with the Manager, 2-1-1 to execute agreed-upon tasks. The 2-1-1 team at United Way Worldwide (2-1-1 UWW Team) provides coordination at the national level to a diverse network of over 200 2-1-1 teams across the country. 2-1-1 is a vital community service accessed by millions of Americans every year. People call 2-1-1 for help with a wide range of social services and resources, including food, housing, utilities payment assistance, health care, transportation, child care, employment opportunities, mental health crises, disaster information and assistance, and more. Highly trained 2-1-1 specialists provide expert, caring help that addresses not only the presenting issue, but underlying challenges people are facing as well. PRIMARY PROJECTS: The intern will support several 2-1-1 Team priorities and strategic projects, primarily by designing and implementing better processes and systems to streamline support to the network and increase capacity. The Marketing Intern will join a team dedicated to building the capacity of United Ways. Reporting to the Chief Culture Officer of United Way Worldwide (UWW), the Conferencing & Event Solutions (CES) team seeks to develop new knowledge, skills, and competencies to help the United Way system transform, grow, and create systemic change in communities across the globe. We accomplish this goal by working with internal and external stakeholders, clients, and subject matter experts to develop learning strategies that support United Way??s transformation, and support those learning strategies through the design and delivery of a portfolio of aligned processes, products, services, programs and events. The clients of this CES include the staff and leadership of UWW and of the local United Ways. This role is a multi-faceted one, responsible primarily for the development and implementation of marketing and advertising for CES products (courses, conferences, etc.), the design and delivery of key deliverables and ensuring alignment with brand and content standards. The Intern will connect with other members of the International Network team on site in Alexandria, VA, and will connect virtually with the internship manager who works remotely. PRIMARY PROJECTS: ?� Assist with developing social content for partners ?� Research images for use in digital content ?� Assist in developing advertising campaigns ?� Assist with developing website content ?� Perform audits of our digital and social platforms ?� Other duties and special projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: ?� Interest in learning about communications including internal, corporate, partner and external. ?� Background in communications, graphic design, marketing, and/or social media. ?� Organized, creative, and analytical thinker ?� Quick-learner, with a can-do attitude ?� Comfortable working daily with a computer to complete work ?� Strong teamwork skills to see a project to completion
