The ideal candidate would be available to work 29 hours a week this summer and then continue on a potentially reduced basis into the school year. The role is in a lab, but it is not a medical/clinical lab. Rather, the intern will support technology research and commercialization in microbiology, molecular biology, bioprocessing, and chemistry. Candidates with some school or work experience in these types of labs are preferred. Core responsibilities and tasks: -Care of aquarium fish and artemia -Assist with and perform experiments -Clean glassware and lab equipment -Organize and Maintain lab inventory -Maintain clean areas and dispose of waste -Assist team in maintaining lab organization and upkeep -Prepare nutrient media, testing standards, etc -Assist in maintaining culture collection stocks -Record and report data -Sterilization of nutrient media and equipment Education and Experience Requirements: -Progress towards an undergraduate (BSc or BA) degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or other life science -Some experience working in a laboratory environment -Fluency in English Skills needed: -Ability to understand and follow instructions -Familiarity and competence with computers -Understanding of microbiology basics -Good safety and cleanliness practices -Strong organizational skills -Familiarity with handling chemicals -Ability to maintain records and keep organized lab book/reports -Willingness to be a part of a small team, learn in a startup environment Skills desired: -Understanding and competence in sterile technique Job Types: Part-time, Internship Salary: $15.00 /hour Language: * English (Required) Work authorization: * United States (Required) Work Location: * One location Hours per week: * 20-29
