Machine Builder Apprentice MAGUS-MI-Sterling HeightsPosted: 6/24/2019 -Job Description SUMMARY -Apprenticeship is a training program in the skilled trade which combines supervised on-the-job training and experience with technical classroom instruction in subjects related to the trade. Training is governed by written agreement and is in accordance with the Company's standards which are registered with the U.S. Department of Labor. On-the-job training is under the control of the department supervisor and carried out by qualified shop instructors. Related classroom instruction is provided through an institution approved by the Apprenticeship Advisory Committee. Essential duties and responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. -Responsible for learning the use, care and effective handling of all tools and equipment commonly used in the Toolmaker/Machine Builder trade. Exercise responsibility and diligence in their shop and classroom assignments. Perform any and all work regularly performed by a skilled employee in the Toolmaker/Machine Builder trade as well as any other work that will add to their effectiveness. Attend classes in subjects related to the trade either during or outside of regular working hours. Obtain all tools necessary for their work in the shop. Perform related duties as required. Adheres to quality, customs, foreign trade zone and environmental processes and procedures. Shares ideas for process improvements and other cost saving measures to management.
