Pastry Chef / Decorator Apprentice Lunds & Byerlys - Saint Louis Park, MN3.6 2 hours agoFull-time$16 - $22 an hour Education * High School Diploma or GED Skills * Customer Service * Computer Skills * Microsoft Outlook Benefits * Tuition Reimbursement * Employee Discount * Dental Insurance * Paid Time Off * Health Insurance JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for producing and merchandising pastries, traditional cakes, special occasion cakes, and specialty items; consulting with customers to fulfill custom orders. This position ensures customers special orders are produced exactly as specified, creative and exciting items are on display maximizing profitability through products that are highly salable yet economical in labor and ingredients. This position ensures fresh and appealing pastries and cakes are available in the proper quantities. During the tenure in this position, the individual will train and shadow a Pastry Chef and a Cake Decorator to achieve Pastry Chef/Decorator title. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines. * Greet and provide assistance to customers. Model the Lund Food Holdings customer service standards at all times * Drive sales in the bakery by setting exciting, dominant displays, providing the correct product assortment, and providing help and education to our customers * Decorate custom cake orders to meet customer needs and expectations * Decorate creative and attractive case cakes to appeal to customers for sale * Support the production of European pastries, cakes, pies, cupcakes, tortes and all store made bakery products * Meet with customers to conduct consultations for special orders * Maintain a safe and secure environment, adhering to all safety, food safety, and security programs, guidelines and regulations * Maintain appropriate stock levels, First in First Out (FIFO) inventory management, learn how to conduct accurate monthly inventories * Understand shrink and how to assess assortment to maximize sales and minimize slow movers * Learn how to order supplies and control inventory to keep the cost low and quality high. * Maintain cake/pastry room in a visually appealing order OTHER JOB DUTIES (Not considered essential to the job) * Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.
