The University of New Havens Office of Marketing & Communications is seeking to hire a Digital Services Specialist. Reporting to the Executive Director of Digital Services and Assistant Director of Digital Services, and working with a tight-knit, collaborative team, this position supports the Universitysinstitutional marketing and communication efforts through the development and creative use of digital marketing technology. ABOUT OUR TEAM: The Office of Marketing & Communications positions, promotes, and elevates the University's reputation through award-winning strategic and creative efforts. We oversee all institutional marketing and communication efforts, including brand and visual identity; external marketing, including digital, print, graphic design, and creative services; advertising; media relations, crisis communications, and issues management; social media; photography and videography; and internal communications. The Office of Marketing & Communications includes 15 people overall, and the Digital Services Specialist is a member of a four-person Digital Services & Internal Communications team that works closely with a two-person Digital Content team. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Digital Services Specialist plays a lead role in the Universitys Office of Marketing &Communications, driving development, execution and evaluation of internal and public-facing websites; ensures strategies are supported by current and emerging technologies; and provides critical support,training and guidance for the Universitys digital channels. The Digital Services Specialist will have responsibility for developing and managing innovative "digital-first" design ideas that support strategic priorities including, but not limited to recruitment marketing, alumni engagement, fundraising, and overall brand awareness. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Executive Director of Digital Services, Assistant Director of Digital Services SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Graduate Student(s) and bursary student(s), as needed CORE DUTIES: Working closely with graphic design team and supervisors, manages visual standards within branding guidelines for the University's websites and other digital mediums. Ensures the final product represents the Universitys brand characteristics, effectively conveys the message, meets timelines, and reflects best practices. Creates or edits HTML-based email campaigns for dissemination through various email and CRM clients, including creative design, coding, testing, list management, and analytical reporting. Fields calls, emails, and help desk tickets from constituents from all areas of the University that need assistance updating their websites and associated digital marketing materials and works collaboratively with those parties to take projects from start to finish to ensure the optimal solution for all involved. Participates in Search Engine Optimization efforts, working with assistant director to implement technical aspects of SEO recommendations. Provides performance data at regular intervals. Implements Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to ensure all University digital properties meet WCAG 2.01 standards. Monitors and tests websites and website content for accessibility. Researches, tests, and implements technical fixes for accessibility issues and ensures all new development meets applicable standards before implementation. Works with the Internal Communications Coordinator to develop and expand capabilities within the University's internal web poral, myCharger, and assists with technical and design aspects of internal communications efforts. Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience. Ability and aptitude for performing the positions core duties, as described above. Experience and understanding of various Internet standards, including HTML, CSS, XML, JQuery, JavaScript, and PHP. Does not have to be a "master coder" but must be comfortable troubleshooting, editing, and developing existing code and expanding on it, with a willingness to learn and experiment. Experience with creating, writing, editing, and posting content to websites, social media, and/or email campaigns. Experience working in a Content Management System environment or relevant knowledge about CMS. Experience working with media for the web using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. Graphic design experience is a plus. Internal Number: 19-29A
