Location: Washington, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Primary duties include identifying bills, regulations and issues of interest to the university; analyzing potential impact on the university; tracking/researching legislation across all issue areas; attending hearings; drafting memos, papers, and correspondence on issues; coordinating research agenda of federal relations office; assisting with identification of key stake-holders on campus on various issues, developing ways to communicate effectively with these constituencies; representing the federal relations office at various association working groups/coalitions. Primary responsibility for monitoring and charting the progress of Harvard's various appropriations related issues throughout the budget year and for managing the completion of the lobbying disclosure forms required quarterly and semiannually by Congress. Assist in coordinating DC trips and meetings for high level university officials. This role works across HPAC teams and functions to integrate activities, tools and information in service to broaden overall departmental priorities. Position also requires limited administrative support for a small office, including website management and computer troubleshooting. Other duties as needed or required.
Additional Information While demanding significant initiative and the ability to work independently, these efforts will be carried out under the directions of other federal relations staff. This position is confidential and not part of the bargaining unit. It is located in the Office of Federal Relations in Washington, DC.

Union: 96 - Non-Union, Out of Area
Bachelor's degree and familiarity with legislative process required. Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills also required.
At least one year experience on Capitol Hill or in the executive branch strongly preferred. Experience with using Internet-based federal and congressional research tools and familiarity with higher education institutions preferred.
