The Coordinator of Media Relations assists the Assistant Athletics Director of Media Relations in providing all necessary athletics communications coverage, as well as, presenting the University in the strongest possible light.

Description of Job Duties
-Provides editing of UIWs programs, press guides and website content for assigned sports;
-Assists in the supervision of the writing and editing of sports press releases, as well as write press releases, for assigned sports;
-Compiles and updates statistical records on a weekly basis, and maintains archival fields for specific sports;
-Assists with the staffing and coordination of assigned sports home athletic events;
-Aids in the supervision of graduate assistants and student staff in the coverage of assigned sports, events and tournaments;
-Schedule media luncheons and special activities, as requested;
-Coordinate the preparation and editing of postseason tournament brochures for assigned sports;
-Coordinate the organization of photo and media days for specific sports;
-Coordinate the advance activities for all away games for assigned sports;
-Abide by all rules of the National Collegiate Athletics Association ( NCAA ) and the Southland Conference;
-Create and maintain a library of historical data, documents, information, and photographs for assigned sports;
-Makes the historical information available to staff, coaches, student-athletes, alumni, etc;
-On request, will create a statistical data bank on student-athletes and teams;
-Follow all NCAA , Southland and UIWs policy and procedures;
-Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Proficient in web design;
-Strong writing and communication skills;
-Self-starter with the ability to work without supervision;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
Required Work Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in the athletics media relations field.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Valid Texas drivers license with the ability to be insurable with UIWs insurance carrier.
Will be required to work some nights and some weekends.
