Communications and Events Specialist, Career Exploration and Development Position Number: 988324 Work Type: Staff/Unclassified Location: Kent Campus Category: Full-time Home Org/Dept: C&I - General, Fall - Kent Campus [103000] Job Title: Communications and Events Specialist, Career Exploration and Development Physical Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH Salary: $43,393 - $57,513 Basic Function: To produce and provide project support and oversight of tasks that involve electronic and web communications (emails, social media and maintenance of web pages) for career exploration and development while ensuring university brand standards are utilized. Serve as primary contact and coordinator of all events for Career Exploration and Development. Reports to designated supervisor. Additional Basic Function if applicable: Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Serve as primary liaison for Career Exploration and Development to University College media and marketing team; external vendors for events; external vendors for print and marketing collateral. Develop and coordinate annual events and programming calendar for career exploration and development including: * Manage vendor relationships and bidding process. * Monitor and develop budgets for events in collaboration with event coordinator. * Develop and update procedures and operations checklist for events and debrief staff after events for continuous improvement, in collaboration with event coordinator * Develop employer/recruiter packets for all events. Write various promotional content ranging from news and events to feature content. Order graphic collateral for print mediums including newsletters and other recruitment/retention collateral. Ensure website and design elements meet all university standards. Perform website maintenance, including photo and content updates. Review website for dated material and work with content providers to add or delete content. Manage and maintain digital photo library. Maintain web calendar by posting campus events via appropriate system. Coordinate production of multimedia including slideshows, maps and video clips. Oversee social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) and work with content providers to create ongoing calendar for posts; posts content. Produce analytic reports and charts on web traffic, social media traffic and email results. Assist with web development needs for implementation of marketing/recruitment campaigns; specific landing pages, etc. Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Examples of Duties if applicable: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field and two years of communications and event planning experience with focus on diverse and global audience, including external partners. License/Certification: Knowledge Of: Personal computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite * Essential project management skills (problem-solving, organizational skills) * Skill In: Written, verbal and interpersonal communications * Exercising sound judgment and problem resolution Multi-tasking while managing a dynamic portfolio of events and assignments Event management Ability To: Work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis * Attend to details and follow-up Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others Function well within a team-oriented environment * Preferred Qualifications if applicable: Master's degree in a related field. Global communications, experience in higher education event planning and marketing. Assessments: Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which require assessments Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
