Function Overview The predictive modeling team is comprised of technical experts with a deep knowledge of cooking products (Ranges, Cooktops, and Built in Ovens). The primary delivery of the team is a suite of virtual models proven to predict product performance without the need of physical units. The team's physics-based approach ensures the models are parameterized such that the predictive capability is valid between products with varying form/dimensions. This is achieved through deep technical knowledge, systematic problem solving and extensive lab experimentation to prove correlation and flexibility. Job Description * The Senior Engineer will work with the global cooking subsystem teams to create and execute highly physics-based system-performance models for cooking products to enable virtual prediction of thermal, structure and combustion performance. * As a key member of the modeling team, it is critical for you to interact with other sub-system teams and system integration teams to develop model portfolio and justify the value added through modeling. * The Senior Engineer will own and maintain the predictive design tools and conduct training to the engineering community within the Cooking Category. Minimum Requirements * Master's Degree * 5+ years of developing physics-based models, utilizing simulation for product development and delivering products to market Preferred Requirements * Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering * Industry experience building skeleton models, conducting parametric studies or system optimization * Experience with modeling thermal system * Highly capable in the technical areas of thermodynamics, heat transfer, combustion, and structures/statics * Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with Ansys * Skilled user for PTC Creo * Familiar with system engineering * Familiar with Dymola/Modelica RSRWH About Us Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) is the world's leading major home appliance company, with approximately $21 billion in annual sales, 92,000 employees and 70 manufacturing and technology research centers in 2017.
