Big Brothers Big Sisters partners with parents/guardians, volunteers, and donors to provide children with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that changes lives for the better, forever. Since 1927, our staff has worked carefully with both the volunteers and the children to ensure that the experience of Big Brothers Big Sisters is one that is dynamic, fulfilling, memorable and enjoyable for both the child and the volunteer. What We Are Looking For: An ideal candidate would be a dedicated and hard-working student interested in event management, event planning, hospitality, nonprofit management, fundraising, or other related field. An individual who possesses strong oral and written communication is a must. Position Summary: This is a flexible, unpaid, part-time (approximately 15-20 hours a week) event planning internship position. The intern will report directly to the Director of Events. It is necessary for the intern to actively participate in both the development team and programming team efforts within the agency. The intern will have the following responsibilities: * Assist with the implementation of program events such as: Teen Conference, Boys and Girls Summit, Big Picnic, School Supply Drive, and Holiday Party * Help coordinate large- scale special events which includes: Big Taste of Fort Worth, Big Black Tie Ball, Clay Shoot, The Golf Classic, Autobahn, and Casino Night * Acquire new event opportunities by utilizing effective research techniques and communication with vendors, sponsors, companies, and volunteers * Attend meetings with event committees, board members, and/or the BBBS development team * Manage stewardship opportunities with volunteer groups and companies * Perform administrative duties for the Dallas office and personnel when appropriate An applicant for this position must meet the following requirements: * Be available for some nights and weekends during the internship period * Maintain a professional work presence Job Types: Part-time, Internship Education: * High school or equivalent (Preferred) Work authorization: * United States (Required) Work Location: * One location Working days: * Monday * Tuesday * Wednesday * Thursday * Friday Internship Compensation: * College Credit Save
