Public Accounting Internship Audit or Tax (Busy Season Jan-April) The Public Accounting Intern will perform real world, hands-on, basic accounting processes on a variety of client engagements. The intern will learn to perform audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements for a variety of clients and may prepare federal, state, county, and local income tax returns for both business entities and individuals. The intern will be trained on the industrys leading accounting systems and software and will learn our client engagement approach and methodologies. Major Responsibilities: Become familiar with the Firms policies and procedures. Become familiar with:
Pronouncements of the FASB, AICPA and the GASB. Preparation of financial statements. Pertinent Internal Revenue Code sections and regulations. Preparation of corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, and other tax returns. Data processing, as assigned by other members of the Firm. Learn to utilize firm computer hardware and software systems. Proofing financial statements. Work paper analysis, requirements, and preparation techniques. Client inventory observations. Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience: Sophomore class standing or above and be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance 3.0 GPA required A commitment to passing the CPA exam and obtaining 150 credit hour Ability to work full-time and at times 60 plus hours a week from January through April 15 Skills & Abilities: Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting. Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to travel to client locations.
