POSITION SUMMARY Working with the Councils communications and marketing department, the intern will be responsible for assisting with public relations efforts including written press releases, implementation of communications plans, and publication production, as well as helping to create content for digital channels including the council website and blog. This position is part-time, non-exempt (10-15 hours a week) and will be based out of the Raleigh Service Center. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES Assists with researching, developing and pitching story ideas for external media. Assists in writing press releases, including releases for Girl Scout Girl Award recipients. Assists with departmental record keeping including media contact list, award databases, and other communication related documents. Serves as a member of the communications team and works collaboratively with all functional areas of the council to support and achieve the councils goals. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Competency in communications, public relations and marketing. Demonstrated written and oral skills. Self-starter with passion for communications and marketing. Advanced computer skills in Windows environment and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). Advanced desktop publishing skills highly desirable. Familiarity with AP style. Must be committed to the aims and purpose of Girl Scouting.
