Purpose: The Center Relations Manager (CRM) serves as an integral member of the Center for Faith and Culture staff responsible for helping execute the Center's external relations strategies and initiatives. The CRM will contribute to the Center's efforts to build and sustain a positive image in relationships with civic and inter-religious communities in Houston. The CRM will work closely, as required, with the Center's director and Associate Directors on related initiatives, programs, and activities to ensure the highest level of collaboration. The Center Relations Manager will report directly to the Director of the Center for Faith and Culture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To assist the Director of the Center as an ambassador to external constituencies. Serve as an ambassador for the Center and work to build relationships with external points of contact. The goal of these relationships is to advance the Center's position and the Director's relationships with relevant constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness and donor support for the Center. Work closely with the Associate Director for Pastoral and Ecumenical Initiatives in developing ecumenical, interreligious projects, and other events related to the mission of the Center. Develop, in conjunction with the Center Director, the Center's Communications Coordinator, and the VP for Marketing and Communications, a marketing plan for the Center. Develop and organize, in conjunction with the Associate Director for Education and Formation, various training sessions for executive leaders. Assist in the awareness of major events to help exceed attendance goals at conferences, galas, major dinners, and other fundraising events. Develop, in conjunction with the Center Director and the VP for University Advancement, a comprehensive fundraising plan for the Center. Responsible for identifying grant opportunities for the Center. Maintain and enhance the positive reputation of the Center by promoting its mission and various programs, academic and non-academic, to the public. Actively engage, cultivate, and manage new relationships, in support of the Center, with other religious organizations, corporate entities, civic organizations, and other non-profit organizations that align with the Center's mission and goals. At the discretion of the Center's Director, communicate related strategies and issues to the Center's Advisory Board. Work closely with the Director and the Associate Directors in developing growth strategies that result in increased awareness, enrollment and retention. May perform a variety of other duties as required by the Center Director. Qualifications and Requirements: Education Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Experience A minimum of 3 years' experience in a public relations or an external relationships role interacting regularly with constituents and other external points of contact. Experience developing strategic and marketing plans desirable. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Excellent interpersonal skills with the abilities to interact comfortably in small and large groups. Excellent analytical and presentation skills including handling many assignments simultaneously. Must be detail oriented and possess excellent organizational and planning skills. Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail. Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to their work. Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier partners, and in successfully positioning subject matter various constituent groups. Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation, handling confidential and sensitive information, and conflict resolution. Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs. Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive; a team oriented person who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Roman Catholic Church's teachings including but not limited to social, moral, and political issues. This should include the Church's teachings on the value of a Catholic education, in particular, Ex Corde Ecclesiae. Being a member in good standing in the Roman Catholic Church is preferred.
