JUNTOS is currently seeking a Youth Programming Intern to support the development of our Sanctuary Schools initiative and contribute to the operation of our Fuerza youth program. Under the supervision of the Youth Organizer, the Youth Programming Intern will be responsible for developing training materials and informational documents as part of a formal curriculum for Sanctuary Schools, translating documents from English to Spanish, helping prepare materials for community meetings, and helping facilitate Fuerza workshops. The successful candidate will also support the overall programming and administrative needs of the organization’s youth programming.


A qualified applicant will have experience with youth organizing and interacting with vulnerable communities, a strong desire to develop the leadership of our community’s youth, and strong communication and organizational skills that support development of a curriculum that will advocate for better schools for our city. This position will be hybrid virtual/in-person.


Primary Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Youth Organizer in authoring an informational booklet provides training and resources to aid the community in achieving true sanctuary in schools
  • Translate documents from English to Spanish to make them accessible to our community
  • Work with Junior Organizers and Ambassadors to prepare powerpoint presentations and documents for community meetings
  • Facilitate workshops in the place of the Youth Organizer as needed

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support the administrative needs of the youth programs such as scheduling field trips, site visits, following-up with members’ attendance, and other needs that may arise

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, reading and writing with translation ability
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Capability to engage communities from diverse ethnic and class backgrounds in a welcoming manner 
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Commitment to racial equity, social justice, and immigrant rights 
  • Strong local ties and familiarity with Philadelphia is a plus
