Remote Sexuality Educator Internship

This remote internship program is specifically designed for people interested in pursuing a career in sexuality education and/or public health. This internship involves creating online educational materials, and assisting in program and curriculum development. Interns receive intensive training on sexuality education, curriculum development and material creation.

As an all-volunteer organization, this internship is unpaid.

• What is the application process?
• Typically, applicants are contacted via email within 48 hours of submitting their application. If someone is selected for an interview, they will receive details about the interview process in this email. Applicants can expect to receive an internship acceptance or rejection email within 48 hours of their interview.
• Do I have to be a student in order to intern?
• No. Masakhane does not have any educational requirements for this internship. We do, however, provide assistance to folks seeking school credit for this internship experience.
• Can I still apply after the deadline?
• No applications are accepted after the deadlines listed above.
• Why can’t I intern for a different schedule than the one listed?
• Our internship program is highly collaborative, pairing interns with each other, training interns together, creating materials together, etc. This requires everyone to be on the same schedule.
• What does the day-to-day look like?
• The internship days vary depending on our program schedule. Some days we’re collaborating on workshop planning and activity creation; some days interns are participating in trainings on a variety of sexuality topics; some days interns are working collaboratively on various projects (like zines, social media, etc.). Our training days are filled with interactive activities, group discussions and lots of games.
• What can I expect to get out of a Sexuality Educator Internship with Masakhane Center?
• Gain hands-on experience working with a nonprofit, community-based organization.
• Receive extensive training on all workshop topics offered by Masakhane, as well as public speaking, leadership and general communication skills.
• The opportunity to lead and assist with workshops and major organizational projects.
• The ability to practice teamwork, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills that can be applied in future community work, academic environments and/or professional careers.
• Mentorship with experienced Sexuality Educators.
• Interns who complete the program receive a strong letter of recommendation.
