Description

As a Christ-centered 501(c)(3) organization, New GateWay Solutions' mission is to work among churches to provide a homeless prevention and alleviation program to the San Diego County community by assisting the unemployed who may be at risk of homelessness, through employment acquisition services, business startup assistance, connection to housing as well as training in budgeting, technology and work readiness. We offer several solutions for our growing clientele: Career Solutions, Business Solutions, Training Solutions and Technology Solutions.

Event Planning Interns will be responsible for assisting the organization in the planning and execution of New GateWay events, including confirming vendors and venues, designing event layouts, finding potential corporate sponsors and preparing marketing materials for each event.


Responsibilities
 Help plan and implement organization events (Job fairs, fundraising etc.)
 Assist with budget preparation
 Establish and maintain vendor and venue contacts
 Create timeline for events
 Assist in selection of details such as menu, décor, and theme
 Prepare marketing materials
 Promote events and maintain positive public relations
 Obtain donations and sponsors for specific events
 Recruit and manage volunteers for event
 Pursue the security of the event
 Work on site (set up and cleanup of events)
 Keep track of donations, contributors and sponsors in a database
 Send thank you notes to all donors and volunteers
 Research and develop additional types of events relevant to New GateWay’s vision

Requirements
• Math and budgeting skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Publisher to create marketing material)
• Excellent communications skills
• Previous experience in event planning preferred
• Must be residing within the San Diego area during the course of the internship and must be able to work from our office located in Chula Vista, CA
• Training is provided to the right candidate
