A Graphic Design Intern is responsible for creating design solutions that have a high visual impact. Their designs are required for a huge variety of products and activities, such as websites, advertising, books, magazines, posters, exhibitions & displays and corporate communications & corporate identity. The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software, and a professional approach to time, costs, and deadlines.
Duties and tasks the intern will be responsible for:
Meet with the Marketing Team to discuss the objectives and requirements of the job
Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
Use innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
Present finalized ideas and concepts
Work with a wide range of media, including photography and computer-aided design
Proofread to produce accurate and high-quality work
Contribute ideas and design artwork
Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches
Work on layouts and art working pages ready for print
Keep on top of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite
Commission illustrators and photographers
Work as part of a team with other interns as well as Comal County Habitat for Humanity staff
What we are looking for:
Previous experience in Graphic Design preferred
Preferred proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
Ability to adapt your design to different audiences
Self-motivated and timeline sensitive
Can take constructive criticism and make improvements based on recommendations
Suggested majors: Communication Design, Advertising, Mass Communication
Must dedicate at least eight (8) hours of your time in the office per week between the hours of 9AM 5PM, Tuesday Saturday.
