Description

Atlantic Institute is a non-profit organization established by Turkish-Americans. Its goal is to promote dialogue among people and towards issues that pertain to their lives. The Atlantic Institute mainstay is to engage in educational activities about social and cultural matters.

We at the Atlantic Institute hire interns in order to not only increase the efficiency of our organization and programming but to also benefit the interns in their areas of expertise and future careers.

Responsibilities
Internships are unpaid, one semester long, and renewable. Interns should commit to at least 15 hours of voluntary work per week. Schedules are flexible.

Interns may be expected to work after-hours and on weekends as needed depending on programming schedules.

Academic and Educational Interns will potentially: assist in research, writing, and planning events and aid in planning of the Art & Essay Contest Organized by the Atlantic Institute. Interns are required to perform a variety of duties. Interns should be well-rounded in their work and abilities, being readily able and willing to help any full-time staff member and/or volunteer with administrative or clerical duties such as answering phones, checking voice mail, welcoming guests, etc.

Requirements
The Atlantic Institute seeks motivated undergraduate or graduate students from the social sciences, religious studies, sociology, business, economics, education, English, philosophy, hospitality & tourism and humanities departments - especially journalism, history, political science, international relations, Language, and anthropology - with:

• Proficiency in editing

• Desire to learn about other cultures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
