Masakhane Center is seeking passionate, highly motivated young people to join us as Program Development Interns. During this year long internship, they will work with the Executive Director to plan, implement, and evaluate new sexuality education programming and curricula. This is an unpaid internship that offers travel reimbursement. In addition, we work with our interns to ensure they receive college/university credit, if desired. Interns receive extensive training on a variety of sexuality topics and program development skills, as well as real world, hands-on experience in the non-profit community and sexuality education field.

OUR SCHEDULE AND HOURS
Starts May 28, 2019 and concludes on May 14, 2020. The Program Development Intern must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm or 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Responsibilities
Create and disseminate a community needs assessment.

Work with local youth on developing a program that caters to their needs and wants.

Create and implement a complete workshop series.

Develop and implement an evaluation system for the created program.

Create a comprehensive report detailing the results of the program, and present this report to the Board of Directors and community stakeholders.

Facilitate sexuality education workshops at schools and youth organizations throughout Newark.
Requirements
Strong advocate for sex positive education.

Strong advocate for racial and reproductive justice.

Strong advocate for the rights of people marginalized for their orientations, gender alignments and/or expressions.

Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and groups of varying backgrounds.

Ability to travel throughout Newark, NJ. Living in or around Newark is preferred.

Excellent organizational, time management, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsible, flexible, creative, reliable and energetic.

Strong attention to detail.
