Student Worker - Career Development, Internship and Job Services , Hagerstown General Information Job Title: Student Worker - Career Development, Internship and Job Services Location: 11400 ROBINWOOD DR Hagerstown, MD, 21742-6514 United States Base Pay: $15.00 / Hour Employee Type: Student Worker Job Category: Student Worker Manage Others: No Contact Information Name: Human Resources Email: hr@hagerstowncc.edu Description The Career Development, Internship and Job Services Office facilitates student learning and career development in the areas of career exploration, career planning, experiential education through internships; and, job services programs for students and alumni. Duties: Student Worker will assist in providing valuable support and resources to fellow students and alumni. The primary role will involve collaborating with staff to deliver career-related services and initiatives on campus. By leveraging knowledge as a current student, you will play a vital role in helping peers navigate their career path and enhance their professional development. Administrative Support: assist with a variety of office tasks; provide exceptional customer service to all students, alumni, staff, and visitors; and, provide general assistance to students by sharing information about career development resources and tools offered by the College. Monitor and respond to phone messages and email inquiries. Assist with developing career readiness materials and updates to the office website. Assist with process improvements and updating resource materials. Complete on-campus errands. Workshop Assistance: Assist in organizing career-related workshops and events; and, promoting student engagement and learning opportunities. Resource Management: Help maintain and update career resources, job listings, and internship records to ensure accurate and relevant information for students. Event Support: Assist in coordinating and promoting career fairs, employer recruitment sessions, and career-related programs on campus. Outreach and Marketing: Collaborate with staff to promote events, services, and resources through various communication channels, including social media, flyers, and newsletters. Assist with preparation of marketing materials to promote career events and materials for workshops, job fairs, and special events. Data Entry and Analysis: Assist with data entry of internship applications. Assist with maintaining metrics for events, tools and resources. Campus Engagement: Actively engage with student clubs to promote career services and encourage participation in career development programs and events. Provide general internship program information. Create a welcoming, positive presence while treating all with courtesy and respect. Special Skills Needed: Ability to work independently with a willingness to learn new office and project management skills; strong writing/editing skills; computer proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality conducting office assignments; ability to understand and manage physical and online file storage using OneDrive and network drives; ability to navigate websites; excellent customer service and phone manners; organization and time management; and, ability to work independently with a positive attitude; Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor; Proficiency in using computer applications and technology platforms commonly used: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook; and, Adobe Acrobat; An interest in career development, resume writing, interview techniques, and basic career development concepts is desirable; Enthusiasm for helping fellow students succeed in their career pursuits. Additional Information: The CDIJS student worker hours available are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Shifts are usually scheduled in four-hour increments. Preference given to students who will be attending HCC more than a single semester. Requirements MUST BE A CURRENT HCC STUDENT FOR THE FALL 2023 SEMESTER. MUST BE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST 6 CREDITS. UNLESS FIRST-SEMESTER STUDENT, MUST HAVE ATTAINED A 2.5 SEMESTER GPA DURING THE LAST SEMESTER ATTENDED. Summary Application Deadline: This position is considered open until filled.
