Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Assist the Generation Engineering team at the Prairie Creek Generating Station in Cedar Rapids, IA
• Complete a mixture of hands-on work, such as thermal performance testing and outage inspections, as well as desk work, including data analysis and preparing test reports
• Potentially travel to support other facilities across the fleet in Iowa and Wisconsin
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment
• Physical exertion in a hot and possibly dirty/dusty environment, including climbing stairs, standing on gratings, and handling bulky equipment

Requirements

• Pursuing (or recently graduated from) a degree in mechanical or chemical engineering
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer science, or related field preferred
• GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Active interest and desire to learn about the power industry
• Completed or currently enrolled in dynamics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, power plant systems, or related classes
• Reliable vehicle to travel to locations outside of Cedar Rapids, with an anticipated travel percentage of 20%
• Availability for occasional early starts and long days (40-45 hours/week)
