Job Overview

The Environmental Specialist Intern position at Chemours is an exciting opportunity for college students to gain valuable experience in environmental regulatory compliance. As an intern, you will be exposed to various activities related to hazardous materials management, air emissions control, wastewater compliance, waste management, and more. This internship will provide you with transferrable training and a chance to contribute to the Environmental Management System of the site.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental field sampling of wastewater, stormwater, and/or drinking water
  • Interpret field environmental sample data
  • Assist in preparing correspondence for agencies such as Delaware Natural Resources of Environmental Control (DNREC) and others
  • Learn and follow the Chemours waste characterization/disposal process
  • Review databases for air contaminant emissions and waste disposal volumes
  • Maintain accurate records related to chemical inventories and hazardous waste shipments
  • Support tasks for environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Recommend and coordinate unique projects to support Chemours' 2030 Corporate Responsibility Commitment Goals
  • Complete required Environmental, Health, and Safety training
  • Facilitate involvement in biodiversity initiatives and water stewardship assessments

Requirements

  • Current enrollment at an accredited university as a sophomore or above
  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related fields
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret scientific data
  • Capable of working independently or with limited supervision
  • Some laboratory fieldwork/coursework in relevant areas
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and other online platforms
  • Interest in a career in environmental regulatory compliance
