Job Overview

Join us at Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community as a Physical Therapy Assistant! In this role, you will support our Physical Therapists and physician in helping patients who are recovering from injuries manage pain and regain mobility. Your core duties will include preparing therapy equipment for appointments, massaging and stretching, and recording patient health progress. We currently offer a PRN opportunity.

Compensation

  • Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Contract, Internship

Responsibilities

  • Screen all residents in facility on a quarterly basis to identify those who have experienced declines in their functional abilities and determine if Physical Therapy intervention is indicated
  • Carry out and identify the need for modification of treatment program according to the plan of care in consultation with Registered Physical Therapist
  • Monitor and report resident performance and progress
  • Assist Registered Physical Therapist in re-assessment of patients
  • Assist in determining the need for continued services or discontinuation of services based on patient progress
  • Assist Registered Physical Therapist in discharge planning
  • Supervise Therapy Techs
  • Educate staff, family, and caregivers as indicated
  • Identify needs for program development and implement programs according to company policies and procedures
  • Identify equipment needs of Physical Therapy Dept. and order equipment according to company and facility policy
  • Complete all required documentation according to guidelines specified in Documentation Manual
  • Coordinate in-services for facility staff as the need is determined to ensure safe and effective carry-over of Maintenance/Restorative Programs and overall care of the residents
  • Attend all facility required meetings
  • Promote profession within the facility, including assisting with coordinating special events (i.e., National Physical Therapy Month)
  • Attend Continuing Education courses specific to the current position

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common reports
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-)
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, required assessment abilities, and clinical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in written form
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors, and Bishop Gadsden employees
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Required Education and Experience: Associate Degree from an accredited Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Must meet all certification and licensure requirements as established by the state and national board associations
  • Active South Carolina license required
  • Active CPR certification
