Job Overview

OhioGuidestone is offering high-quality internships for college students pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Gain hands-on experience and support to kickstart your career in social work. Work with clients in Tuscarawas, in settings such as homes or schools. Choose from clinical focus areas like early childhood, juvenile justice, chemical dependency, and maternal depression. Attend workshops, learn from experts, and network with fellow interns. We offer flexible scheduling, including evening and weekend hours if needed. Opportunities for employment post-internship.

  • Represent OhioGuidestone in a positive manner at all times
  • Communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully
  • Be respectful to others

  • Help come up with solutions for issues as they arise, support staff without judgment
  • Show up with a positive attitude each day

  • Be proactive, assist with furthering the mission of OhioGuidestone
  • Follow through until the issues are resolved or handled by the appropriate person
  • Conserve and protect the resources provided with integrity and accountability
  • May be involved in planning, organizing, and implementing special events or department-specific projects or seasonal program changes
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

If providing clinical services to clients:

  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with each client
  • Provide individual, group, or family therapy as needed
  • Maintain ongoing contact with assigned professionals or outside agency professionals
  • Assume an advocacy role for clients and make recommendations for clinical and support services upon discharge
  • Participate in treatment conferences and meetings
  • Complete required paperwork within designated time frames
  • Attend agency and community meetings as needed
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance

Requirements

  • Minimum education: Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work
  • Agency physical and background check required
  • Valid driver's license, safe driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
  • English reading and writing skills required
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confidentiality required
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility in working hours and availability for crisis management
  • Computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic database usage, as well as basic typing
