Job Overview

The Assistant Director of Clinical Training (ADCT) is a full-time staff position in the APA-accredited doctoral clinical psychology program at Fuller Theological Seminary's School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy. The ADCT will support the administration of clinical field training for the Clinical Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs. This role involves being a key point of contact for students and field training sites, placement and mentorship of students, recruitment of training sites, and quality assurance of the student field training experience.

Compensation

Salary: $65,000 annually USD

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Clinical Training will:

  • Work closely with the Director of Clinical Training and Clinical Administrative Coordinator in a team environment, under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Training (DCT).
  • Manage the practicum field training process, including clinical evaluations, orientation meetings, and clinical training manuals.
  • Oversee the placement process for students in clinical training sites, coordinating the annual practicum site fair and managing the practicum selection and placement process.
  • Administer the first-year clinical training program, including oversight of the Practicum 0 committee and coordination with Practicum 0 faculty supervisors.
  • Serve as a liaison to practicum training sites, recruiting new training sites, coordinating site visits, and maintaining communication.
  • Mentor students in their clinical and professional development, coordinating professional development workshops and individual meetings.
  • Provide remedial mentorship and guidance to students experiencing competency difficulties in clinical training, including individual meetings, remediation plans, referrals, and communication with training sites.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities with internship applicants, providing feedback, conducting mock interviews, and offering one-on-one meetings.
  • Assist the DCT in developing clinical training policies and initiatives.
  • Oversee and develop clinical training orientation and professional development meetings.
  • Attend quarterly SCAPTP (Southern California Association of Psychology Training Programs) meetings to stay up to date on clinical training standards and requirements in the southern California area.
  • Research the latest requirements and best practices in telehealth and COVID protocols in clinical training.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Director of Clinical Training.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Doctorate degree in psychology (PhD/PsyD) from an APA-accredited program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of California (must become licensed within one year of hire date if eligible at the time of hire).
  • Knowledge of APA Standards of Accreditation.
  • Familiarity with the APPIC Internship placement process.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and professional staff.
  • Commitment to clinical training and mentoring students.
  • Significant experience in an academic or mental health setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
