Job Overview

The Compliance Business Manager role at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) supports the Chief Compliance Officer of the Americas Division. This senior position involves managing key Compliance teams and providing assistance to the CCO across various functions. Additionally, the role includes strategic and operational responsibilities, representing the CCO at meetings and committees.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $193,000 - $225,000 per year
  • Specific salary offered based on individual qualifications and market analysis
  • Annual discretionary incentive award may be applicable
  • Full-time position with work from home option

Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex cross-functional projects and initiatives
  • Manage key Compliance teams (Reporting, Training, Issue Management, and Transformation)
  • Create and update dashboards for key performance indicators review
  • Improve processes and optimize organizational procedures
  • Set strategic priorities and metrics for success
  • Review and execute improvements to the Compliance structure
  • Provide oversight and guidance on high-importance projects
  • Act as a point of contact between top management and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with senior management and department leaders on daily operations
  • Build relationships with Compliance employees for increased efficiency
  • Partner with HR for recruitment of full-time, intern, and contractor positions
  • Assist with space and capacity planning for Compliance
  • Review and approve department expenses and monitor budget
  • Coordinate annual Compliance and Business plans and roadmap

Requirements

  • At least ten years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong project management abilities with a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional reasoning, analysis, and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with integrity and professionalism
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on compliance issues
