Job Overview

The YWCA Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Business Development Manager for the TDL Sector Center and managing the Business Engagement Specialists across all workforce programs in the Economic Empowerment Institute. The main responsibilities include providing direction, strategies, oversight, and resources to the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Business Community. This person will be responsible for managing and implementing expansion of employer relationships, addressing job shortages, identifying and sharing job openings, developing training opportunities for incumbent workers, designing on-the-job training opportunities, engaging youth in work-based learning, developing apprenticeships/internships, and hosting hiring events with employers in this sector. The Business Development Manager reports directly to the Director of Workforce Development and collaborates with various stakeholders.

Compensation

  • Salary: $65K

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute an aggressive strategy to address challenges faced by employers in the TDL sector
  • Monitor outcomes and oversee the sector center team to ensure goals are met
  • Host monthly employer engagement activities
  • Coordinate hiring events of the TDL Sector Center as well as all Business Engagement Specialists for all workforce programs
  • Work with employers to develop customized trainings, incumbent worker training, and on-the-job trainings
  • Prepare monthly reports and participate in quarterly meetings to provide updates on Sector Center progress and activities
  • Stay updated on local labor market for TDL industry
  • Provide team with professional development training

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a leader, supervisor, or manager
  • 3+ years of experience in employment specialist, business services, Career Coach, or business-to-business sales
  • Strong project planning and organizing skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual abilities a plus
  • Commitment to economic development of underserved communities
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with cultural competence
  • Ability to travel within the Chicagoland area
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent training and experience
