Job Overview

  • CNA's Tech Summer Internship Program offers a dynamic and fast-paced 10-12 week training program for interns interested in technology.
  • Gain hands-on experience and unique opportunities across various technologies, including application development and DevOps.
  • Work with Agile methodologies and tools, learning software engineering best practices such as Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Use public cloud platforms to create business applications and services.
  • Gain in-depth education in technology, the insurance industry, and CNA's organization.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake challenging and innovative assignments that provide real-world experience in applying technical education to technology projects.
  • Work directly with experienced CNA developers to learn the eXtreme Programming methodology and software engineering best practices.
  • Create business applications and services using public cloud platforms.
  • Gain in-depth education in technology, the insurance industry, and CNA's organization.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated manager and mentor throughout the internship program.
  • Meet with members of CNA's senior leadership team to learn about their experiences in technology within the insurance industry.
  • Participate in professional and personal development activities.
  • Receive ongoing feedback and coaching on performance.

Requirements

  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior (undergraduate) or in the first year of a Masters program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA required (overall and major).
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented languages, preferably Java.
  • Familiarity with data structures, web development, SQL, and database fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of information security, application security, systems, and network architecture.
  • Interest in the insurance industry.
  • Previous work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and cultivate positive business relationships.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical aptitude, quick learner, and adaptable to change.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
