Responsibilities

  • Work in the sports department as assigned, gaining hands-on experience
  • Learn about newsroom operations and participate in regular functions
  • Activities may include writing, producing, reporting, photojournalism, and operations
  • Attend daily editorial meetings and check news sources
  • Support working journalists by researching, writing, and editing material
  • Stay informed about local, national, and world sports news
  • Understand the concerns and issues of the station's audience
  • Complete other duties as assigned, documenting the internship as required by your educational institution

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in noisy and distracting environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in operating office equipment and computer systems
  • Ability to think critically and logically
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • Comfortable with standing or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Willing to work outside as needed for gathering information and video shots
