Job Overview

  • 10-week internship experience in the buy-side investment management industry
  • Work alongside HIMCO's Front Office teams
  • Gain exposure to various sector assignments within credit research, privates, structured credit, quantitative equity, portfolio management, and macroeconomic strategy
  • Development opportunities through mentoring, mock-trading competition, executive speaker series, volunteering, and social events
  • Capstone project presentation to HIMCO senior leaders
  • Potential for full-time Front Office position for successful summer interns

Compensation

  • Competitive annualized base pay range (based on market analysis)
  • Additional rewards may include bonuses and long-term incentives
  • Total compensation package offered by The Hartford Financial Services Group

Responsibilities

  • Assist in buy-side investment management activities
  • Collaborate with HIMCO's Front Office teams
  • Contribute to assigned sector assignments
  • Participate in mentoring program and executive speaker series
  • Complete capstone project

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025
  • Deep interest and basic knowledge of financial markets
  • Some coursework or experience in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Familiarity with coding languages (e.g., Excel VBA, R, Stata, MATLAB) is a plus
