Job Overview

  • The Full-Time MBA Career Consultant position is a part of the MBA Career Education and Coaching team at McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations (CMCR).
  • The primary goal is to provide career coaching, targeted career programming/resources, and career education to Full-Time MBA students.
  • The role includes one-on-one career coaching, resume writing, mock interviews, career goal assessment, job search strategy, etc.

Compensation

  • $60,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Career Consulting:

    • Provide one-on-one career coaching and small group advising to MBA students.
    • Assist with resume writing, mock interviews, career goal assessment, professional development, job search strategy, networking, and salary negotiation.
    • Stay updated with best practices and trends in MBA specific industries/functional areas.
    • Liaise with relevant faculty and staff to support MBA students.
  • Career Education: Teaching & Resource Development

    • Collaborate with the MBA Career Education & Coaching team to develop career education strategy, content, and pedagogy.
    • Coordinate and teach the BA 181: Strategic Career Planning course for first-year MBA students.
    • Create online resources, digital content, and maintain online channels.
  • Career Programming & Engagement

    • Collaborate with the Employer & Alumni Engagement team to develop and execute programming, panels, and recruiting events.
    • Work with student organizations on career-related activities and resource development.
    • Attend national career fairs to support student recruiting efforts.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Project/Program Management

    • Coordinate schedules, calendars, events, and opportunities to build relationships.
    • Oversee major projects related to career curriculum, international student engagement, employment data tracking, communication strategy, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, counseling, or related field.
  • Six years of work experience in an MBA specific industry or relevant experience in career coaching/advising, outplacement, or recruiting.
  • Knowledge of various career fields for MBA graduates.
  • Strong customer focus, ability to address the needs of highly motivated business professionals.
  • Entrepreneurial orientation, self-starter with excellent resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills.
  • Project management abilities, interpersonal skills, effective communication.
  • Proficiency with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software.
