Job Overview

The Oakland Unified School District is seeking a Psychologist to join the Programs for Exceptional Children team. In this role, you will conduct assessments of the psycho-educational needs of referred students, provide consultative services to facilitate student learning and development, offer short-term counseling services, and assist school patrons in accessing services from outside agencies.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $82,395-118,230 per year

Responsibilities

  • Administer psycho-educational assessments and re-evaluations of referred students according to assessment plans
  • Prepare written reports of assessment findings, including diagnoses and recommendations
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and facilitate teams as needed
  • Provide consultative support to teachers, administrators, parents, and students for regular and special education programs
  • Offer short-term counseling to referred students and families
  • Recommend alternative approaches or techniques to help students achieve their goals
  • Perform crisis counseling when necessary
  • Drive a vehicle to conduct work
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master's degree in educational or clinical psychology
  • Minimum one year of internship under the supervision of a credentialed school psychologist
  • Pupil Personnel Services Credential with School Psychology authorization
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Employment eligibility, including fingerprint clearance and tuberculosis screening
