Job Overview

The Boring Company is seeking a Tunnel Safety Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will work with the Safety team to implement and enforce safety procedures on the construction site. Responsibilities

  • Perform regular safety training sessions, including safety orientations and toolbox safety talks
  • Conduct job site inspections to identify and document unsafe conditions and work practices
  • Coordinate supplemental inspections for new processes, equipment, or hazards
  • Assist in developing project safety pre-plans and job hazard analysis
  • Verify the implementation of corrective measures for identified hazards
  • Participate in post-accident analysis and present "lessons learned" to crew and management
  • Oversee first aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and personal protective equipment
  • Enforce all safety rules and apply disciplinary procedures when necessary
  • Create safety bulletins to increase awareness and communicate updates
  • Submit weekly status reports on completed projects

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university or college

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Basic understanding of Engineering, Environmental, and/or Occupational Safety concepts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in construction areas
