Job Overview

Hachette Book Group Canada is seeking a creative, ambitious, and versatile part-time publicity intern to join our dynamic Publicity department. This five-month internship (negotiable) provides an excellent opportunity to explore a career in the book publishing industry. The ideal candidate should be a quick learner and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

  • Part-time position (three days per week for five months)
  • Paid internship with the potential for extension

Responsibilities

  • Assist with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Engage in book-related contests and giveaways on social media
  • Support Blogger and Influencer outreach activities
  • Coordinate publicity mailings
  • Collaborate in the creation of press releases and other publicity materials under supervision
  • Aid in research projects and maintain a publicity database
  • Assist with award submissions
  • Distribute mail, sample books, and other publicity materials
  • Perform administrative tasks such as trafficking bills, scheduling meetings, photocopying, and phone call management

Requirements

  • Current student (degree or certificate program) or Spring/Summer 2022 graduate
  • Professional publishing program certificate and/or relevant work experience (beneficial but not required)
  • Demonstrated experience and keen interest in social media
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a small, team-oriented department
