Job Overview

  • Indorama Ventures Integrated Oxides and Derivatives is seeking a dynamic individual to work as a Computer Science Intern.
  • This internship is tailored to full-time college students at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • The internship will run from May to August, based on the school calendar.
  • The goal of the Indorama Intern Program is to provide a structured program that equips interns with skills and experience for a successful career.
  • After initial orientation, the intern will be assigned to the Manufacturing Information Systems Management group and will provide technical support.

Compensation

  • This is a paid internship opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Technology & Manufacturing Performance group to create end-user tools such as web pages and .net applications.
  • Interface with various production databases.
  • Develop SQL queries, reports, and automated Excel spreadsheets.
  • Monitor and maintain system backups, software patches, and server upgrades.
  • Ensure activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, including safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality, and responsible care requirements.
  • May be required to work overtime to meet daily production objectives.
  • Collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assist other employees in achieving company goals.
  • Follow instructions and perform assigned duties.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives.
  • Complete company-required training programs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time college student at the Junior or Senior level by the end of Spring 2024 semester.
  • Must be pursuing a BS in Computer Science, preferably at Lamar University.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.
  • Proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Knowledge of C# and Visual Basic programming, as well as web development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to research and analyze complex information.
  • Ability to build relationships across organizational lines.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
