Job Overview
Southwire Company, LLC, a leader in technology and innovation, is seeking an R D Engineering Intern to join their team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work with the Research & Development team, providing support in prototype development, lab testing, documentation, and drafting. This internship is hosted for the Summer 2024 semester, with estimated dates from May through June 2024.
Compensation
- Starting Pay Rate: $18.00
- Benefits package available, including 401k with Matching & Pension Plan, Medical Insurance (if working 30 hours per week), Flexible Work Schedule, Employee Assistance Program, Advancement & Professional Growth opportunities, and more.
Responsibilities
- Set up and conduct lab tests as specified by senior engineers
- Interpret and test methods from test plans, qualification specifications, and compliance standards
- Compile and analyze data generated from experiments and provide detailed reports
- Fabricate concept prototypes and working prototypes
- Maintain engineering labs, including parts inventory and calibration of lab equipment
- Provide drafting and design services using Solidworks
Requirements
- Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and statistics a plus
- Strong internet skills for researching and sourcing technologies
- Excellent writing and documentation skills
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
