Job Overview

Cotton, a Sikich Company, is offering an exciting summer internship that provides practical, hands-on Accounting experience. Interns are given an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world problems by working in challenging and team-oriented engagements with employees across the organization. Our summer internship program runs from mid-June to mid-August, and interns work up to 40 hours per week at a competitive hourly rate.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and support to the accounting or audit project team under supervision
• Work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with supervisory personnel
• Obtain, analyze, and evaluate data to perform tests and substantiate transactions, records, and reports
• Review documents, transactions, records, reports, and methods for accuracy and effectiveness
• Prepare documentation, including workpapers and summarized data reports
• Report task progress and status to senior staff
• Meet expectations for attendance, punctuality, and company/client deadlines
• Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

• Currently a junior or senior student working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited university
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
• Interest in a career in government audit or consulting
• Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Access
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Professional demeanor and ability to interact with clients, managers, and partners
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
