Job Overview

The City of San Jose, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join the Mayors Neighborhood Outreach Team. As a Community Relations/Customer Service Specialist/Manager, you will represent the Mayors Office at community meetings, gather resident concerns, and develop action plans to meet community objectives. This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend availability.

Compensation

  • Salary: $72,051 a year
  • Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Own the Mayors brand within the community, ensuring visibility, reputation, responsiveness, neighborhood engagement, and excellent service to residents.
  • Attend neighborhood, district, business, or association meetings and community events with the Mayor to gather resident concerns.
  • Respond to constituent inquiries and policy questions, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with neighborhood leaders, council offices, community organizations, residents, and government agencies.
  • Prepare talking points and local issue briefs for the Mayor.
  • Coordinate beautification projects, cleanups, and civic improvements with neighborhood groups and City administration.
  • Handle logistics for meetings, programs, or other civic functions on behalf of the Mayor.

Requirements

  • Combination of training, education, and experience to support the Mayors Office in constituent services, public policy, community outreach and engagement, and communications.
  • Possession of a valid California drivers license.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
