Engineering Intern (Overhead Transmission Line)

Job Overview
POWER Engineers is seeking a talented civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering student for a summer 2024 internship in our Austin, Texas office. As an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to expand your skills and receive real-world training and skill development in designing overhead transmission line and substation structures.
Compensation
- DOE (Depends on Experience)
Responsibilities
- Design overhead transmission line and substation structures, foundations, and related facilities.
- Work under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Participate in professional development sessions, early talent speaker series, and fun Friday activities.
Requirements
- Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interest in consulting engineering and the electric utility industry.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
- Ideal coursework includes statics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying.
- Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Prior internship and/or related engineering experience is a plus.
- Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered.
- Familiarity with design, drafting, or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, etc. as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial.
