Job Overview
- Provide mechanical engineering support for new product development and factory support of existing products.
- Translate product requirements into a mechanical specification and test plan.
- Execute verification testing based on the mechanical specification and test plan.
- Conduct design analysis and testing (structural and thermal) to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Understand customer needs, generate test procedures, and execute tests.
- Generate and process engineering change orders (ECOs) as required.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation.
- Support installation coordination for maritime structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment installations.
- Apply engineering design and analytical theory to integrated system design.
- Support transition from engineering design to manufacturing, assembly, and installation of designed products.
- Apply principles of structural mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
- Develop free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.

Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to CAD or analysis (FEA) tools, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures, and mechanisms.
- Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, automation, and software programming for numerical analysis.
- Ability to apply principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
- Proficiency in generating free body diagrams, determining reaction forces, calculating internal loads, and developing shear and moment diagrams.
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language.
- Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue and damage tolerance principles.
