Job Overview

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a leading independent global professional services firm, specializing in providing turnaround management, performance improvement and corporate advisory services, and Public Sector Services. With approximately 7,000 professionals based in locations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, our firm excels in problem-solving and value creation. We are currently hiring for the Public Sector Summer 2024 Associate program.

Compensation

Hourly Range: $45.00 to $55.00 per hour

Responsibilities

As a Public Sector Summer Associate, you will:

  • Improve public services, expanding and improving the constituent experience
  • Manage crises, stabilizing and transforming government agencies
  • Support financial management and innovation, enabling agencies to make critical investments
  • Identify and implement operational improvements, modernizing and streamlining operations
  • Guide transformation and innovation initiatives to unlock opportunities for improved constituent services at lower cost

Requirements

To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Currently working toward a graduate degree with the intention to graduate Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy preferred
  • 3 years of total work experience; prior full-time or internship work experience in financial management, government operations, and/or consulting not required, but considered a plus
  • Demonstrated academic excellence
  • Proficiency with the following:
    • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Extracting useful information from large sets of unorganized or incomplete data
    • Effective written and verbal communication
    • Excel and other MS Office programs for analysis and presentation
  • Contextualize tasks within a baseline understanding of macro issues concerning K-12 education, higher education, workforce development, state & local governance, and/or health services.
  • Thoughtfulness, objectivity, professionalism, and empathy in all aspects of work
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%
