Job Overview
- Part-time internship with the Financial Applications Team in Information Technology Services at the University of California Office of the President (UCOP)
- Year-round internship with flexible hours based on school schedules and availability
- Fully remote position within the state of California
- Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in information technology and work on Java web applications
Compensation
- Salary: $19.96 - 24.95 hourly commensurate with skills/experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic design, development, modification, and debugging of Java applications
- Perform source code management and application build and deployment
- Conduct unit testing to ensure proper operation and conformance to test plans
- Prepare technical and functional documents
- Perform basic data analysis to serve the business users' needs
- Collaborate with core team members, subject matter experts, and business partners
- Proactively engage other ITS teams in cross-functional efforts
Requirements
- Currently enrolled University of California student
- Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills
- Strong writing skills suitable for a general, non-technical audience
- Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
- Demonstrated interest in learning application programming best practices
- Strong Java programming language experience
- Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
- Basic understanding of database SQL and DDL
- Ability to perform source code management and application build and deployment using tools like Git, Maven, and Shell scripts
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
