Internship - Environmental Focus (Engineering or Geology) at Barr Engineering
Job Location:
Minneapolis, MN, United States of America
Job Overview:
Barr Engineering is seeking an environmental intern to join its Minneapolis office for the summer of 2024. This internship offers challenging and progressive work on projects related to the evaluation and remediation of contaminated sites. As an intern, you may work individually or as part of a project team to assist with on-site investigations of contaminated soil, vapor, sediment, and groundwater, environmental site assessments, engineering calculations, and technical reports. Fieldwork opportunities may include some out-of-town travel. While this position requires presence in a Barr office, a hybrid work arrangement may be considered throughout the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with on-site investigations of contaminated soil, vapor, sediment, and groundwater
- Conduct environmental site assessments
- Perform engineering calculations
- Create data summary tables and spreadsheets
- Assist in preparing technical reports
Requirements:
- Major in environmental, chemical, geological, civil engineering, or a related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Third- or fourth-year student with one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate course work remaining after the internship
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
- Willingness to travel and adjust schedule to meet project needs (up to 50-70% travel and fieldwork possible)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
- Acceptable driving record
