Job Overview

The Senior Director of Corporate Communications drives and executes Veracyte's external communications and stakeholder-engagement strategy, with a focus on media relations, social media, and content development. The position reports to the VP of Global Corporate Communications. Open to San Diego, South San Francisco, or remote location. The San Diego location is preferred.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range is $220,000 to $245,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several objective factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that are located in areas outside of the designated location in this posting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead execution of strategic corporate communications plan to position Veracyte as an industry leader; advance our brand positioning; support product/business unit marketing teams, as appropriate; and protect the company's reputation.
  • Monitor the industry landscape to identify key trends and influencers in our space; create and secure opportunities to position Veracyte, our executives and/or our products in the discussion.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including the Executive, Investor Relations, Business Unit Marketing and Human Resource teams) to identify and create content that can be leveraged with external audiences to advance our corporate positioning, messages and priorities.
  • Oversee corporate news flow calendar; lead development and execution of integrated communications plans for key milestones, ensuring alignment of earned, owned, and paid channels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business and trade media, develop a strategic cadence of story pitches and external news flow.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of media lists and assets.
  • Prep executives for media interviews, including developing talking points, Q&As and media training as needed.
  • Lead development and execution of Veracyte's social media strategy, including establishment of goals and associated metrics.
  • Provide social media best-practice guidance to executives and business unit marketing teams.
  • Create editorial content, such as press releases, bylined articles and blogs, which can be leveraged with external and internal stakeholders through multiple channels.
  • Manage department staff, external agencies, consultants and department budget.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in a public relations agency and/or corporate communications setting, with a focus on healthcare and/or biotech.
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics or medical devices, and in a global environment, are strong pluses.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field.
  • A self-starter who is driven to help patients and moves with urgency.
  • Ability to excel strategically and with tactical execution. Strong news sense and ability to create compelling editorial content.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize and communicate complex information in a manner that is easily understood by others with varying subject expertise.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Ability to manage and inspire team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members at all levels of the company, demonstrating strong self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
