Job Overview

Prohires, a job board specializing in helping college students find internships and entry-level jobs, is currently seeking a Backend Java Developer in Boston, MA. This is a long-term contract position.

Compensation

$50 - $60 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Kotlin and Java (Core Java and Frameworks like Spring / Spring Boot), including object-oriented design, for software development
  • Contribute to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform for 2+ years of experience
  • Demonstrate expertise in DevOps, including CI/CD
  • Possess strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, and the ability to apply them effectively
  • Understand complex technical concepts and communicate them in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Excel in backend development, with additional proficiency in Kotlin

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience (excluding internships)
  • Programming experience in Kotlin and Java (Core Java and Frameworks like Spring / Spring Boot)
  • 3+ years of experience in contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems
  • 2+ years of cloud experience (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform)
  • 2+ years of DevOps experience, including CI/CD
  • Proficiency in data structures and algorithms, with a focus on time space complexity
  • Strong understanding of system design and the ability to explain trade-offs in design decisions
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience with tools and environments such as Distributed Cache (Redis), Distributed DB like DynamoDB, JSON / XML, Restful services, version control systems, Containerization (Docker / Kubernetes), blue-green deployments, and bug/issue tracking tools
  • Experience with Front End React JS and building software for large-scale industrial systems
