Job Overview

At CMC, we are looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in the steel industry, allowing you to learn and grow in your career. You will have the opportunity to cross-train through the department, identify cost-saving opportunities, and work on process improvement initiatives. Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Learning hands-on skills related to industrial/engineering technologies through cross-training in the department
  • Identifying, evaluating, and recommending cost-saving opportunities for process, quality, and safety improvement projects
  • Working closely with the CMC Team on process improvement initiatives and projects
  • Presenting or reporting on an improvement project at the end of the internship
  • Troubleshooting work-related problems using job knowledge, experience, and effective communication
  • Participating in the CMC Safety Programs and upholding the CMC Safety Culture

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong interest in Industrial Engineering Technologies and be enrolled at the Junior/Senior level of education
  • Flexibility to work a 40-hour work week during the summer (June-August)
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive results with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, engineering software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works
  • The ability to understand and apply ISO work instructions and standard operating practices and procedures
  • The ability to work in various environmental conditions, such as extremes in temperature, chemical exposure, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • The physical ability to push and pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs
  • Strong communication skills in verbal and written English
  • Previous internship experiences (preferred)
