Digital Design Intern Summer 2024

Job Overview

  • Paid full-time 12-week internship from June to August 2024
  • Join a digital media company reinventing news coverage and reader engagement
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, and creative directors to showcase graphic artists' talents and elevate content
  • Receive training and mentoring from editors and colleagues across departments
  • Work and train within a cohort of more than a dozen summer interns

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $18.07 (rate as of 7/1/2024 is dependent upon the new SF Minimum wage)

Responsibilities

  • Help tell newsroom stories through innovative digital-first presentations
  • Collaborate with various teams to create engaging visual content
  • Contribute to the design and coding of projects
  • Brainstorm, research, art direct collaborators, and coordinate projects

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree in journalism and/or design
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, GitHub, JavaScript, Figma, Ai2html, Adobe Creative Suite, React
  • Experience with Archie (a plus)
  • Data visualization skills (a plus)
  • Illustration and animation skills (a plus)
  • Print design experience (a plus)
