Job Overview
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Public Infrastructure team in our Austin, TX office. We are a full-service, multidiscipline professional engineering firm serving clients in various industries. As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of technical tasks and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field.
Compensation
- Competitive hourly rate
Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary analysis on a variety of technical tasks
- Conduct project research, field work, observation, and preliminary design calculations
- Take personal responsibility for the quality of tasks performed
- Utilize CAD to prepare and check working drawings, details, layouts, and estimates
- Perform routine analysis to verify accuracy of data and work products
- Assist in the preparation of exhibits, plot plans, lot fits, or other similar tasks by discipline
Requirements
- Currently working towards completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Demonstrates willingness to accept new challenges and learn specialized fields
- Growing knowledge of the profession through involvement in related professional organizations and development programs
- Familiarity with the firm's policies, practices, and procedures
- Basic knowledge of software required for the position
- Good organizational skills
- Able to follow general directions and work with limited independence on basic computations
